Works towards Goal of “Home Safety for the Elderly”
Reviewing the work that SCHSA has achieved so far towards "home safety for the elderly" is apparented that the path has not been at all smooth. We have survived through huge debt amounted to millions of
dollars and was also at the verge of dissolution after commented by the auditor
as being “insolvent”. Despite all these difficulties, we have now become, and
were mentioned by the Chief Executive of HKSAR, Mr. Donald Tsang, as one of the
most successful social enterprises, and we cannot do so without the unity of
our staff and workers or without the continuous pursuit of innovative ideas.
All our members, including 150 colleagues, over 900 volunteers and more than
60,000 thePE Link
Service users shared the pride and together feel grateful for the result. As a matter of fact, there are still a lot of enthusiastic people in our society who
are eager to provide selfless and diversified support in order to extend
helping hands for our elderly.
We take pride in our special operation model, our perseverance on
service’s uniqueness, the ability to constantly generate innovative ideas and
also our service strategy which is completely user-oriented. All of these have
drawn attention and admiration from the public and other social service organizations.
However, we remain humble as we know that there will still be challenges ahead.
We feel grateful as many of our supporters and donors still agree with our
insistence in caring for the elderly in spite of the uncertainty of their own
financial condition under the financial tsunami. This has given us great motivation
to remain innovative and has allowed us to be more proactive and creative in
developing new services (such as the Mobile Link Service which serve as a brand new outdoor support and care services and the Tele-Health Link). Moreover,
the appreciations given by users to our colleagues and volunteers have once
again encouraged us to see the importance of rendering services that focus mainly
on the needs of the users. It enables us to consider their perspectives while
designing customized services for them.
Lastly, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who have
been supporting and have contributed to the growth of SCHSA. Your invaluable
support has helped us to realize our vision of “Living alone without fear, care
for the elderly is here”.
